WWOZ Piano Night has become a tradition among New Orleans music lovers and loyal fans from all over the world. Held each year on the Monday night between the two New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival weekends, New Orleans’ best piano players and special guests tickle the ivories to benefit WWOZ. One of New Orleans’ brightest piano stars, Eddie Bo, passed on March 18, 2009. He was originally scheduled to perform and had already been selected as the subject for this year’s Piano Night poster. So it is fitting that we honor Eddie by dedicating Piano Night 2009 to the memory of the legendary man and his music.
