On Saturday, March 9th, Clarke Peters & Cherylyn L. Tompkins (yep, that’s me) will be Co-Hosting a very special show called “Clarke’s Living Theatre Room” from 6pm-12am at Café Istanbul . A live audience is very welcome ($5 sugg. donation). Please join in the fun and spread the word. Although we have a jam-packed show, you may just be called on-stage to share your talent too.
It’s the brainchild of Clarke Peters (Treme) … a unique multi-media, multi-disciplinary experience to be filmed as a tv pilot in hopes of a re-occurring variety show … possibly on PBS. An artistic feast of color, movement and sound.
We’ve “Called All Artists” to see who will make it to be featured on the show. It will include many of our favorite cultural bearers & artists (and friends): John Boutte, Herlin Riley, Donald Harrison, Vernal Bagneris, Deacon John, Chuck Perkins, Erica Falls, Roland Guerin, Tom Worrell, Anais St. John, Mikko Macchione with Tatianna Macchione & Ross Britz, Fashion Designers Carolina Gallop & Heidi Klee, Ector Gutierrez & Katarina Boudreaux, Chance Bushman, Kangol Komic, Evan Christopher, Ted George, A Scribe Called Quess, Jose Torres-Tama and more. Artists of various varieties … musicians, poets, actors, dancers (belly, salsa, tango, tap & lindy), painters, designers, writers, comics, etc …possibly even puppeteers. Even random Frenchmen St. encounters will be broadcast back to Café Istanbul. You’ll have to BE there to find out what happens.
It’s going to BE fabulous (it already is!!!)!! And, the possibilities of what can and will happen are beyond phenomenal to even imagine. You’ll definitely want to say you were there for this one!!
We’ll be on WDSU during the morning show to discuss more, and possibly WWOZ during the day. For more details, please go to https://www.facebook.com/events/296314597164364. Also, see http://videos.nola.com/times-picayune/2013/03/treme_star_clarke_peters_plans.html.
Thanks greatly to Café Istanbul, Fatoush Restaurant & Juice Bar, NOLA Food Co-op, The Musicians Clinic and Sweet Home New Orleans for their support (please support them in return)!! We also want to thank ALL of the Artists for volunteering their time to BE a part of this fabulous show. And thanks to the volunteer krewe coming together behind-the-scenes to make this all possible in such a short amount of time.
Peace & Love,
