and there’s still MORE (listed below) …

Hello My FabuNOLA Family!!!

How are you all doing today? I always hope amazingly well!! This is going to be a quick note because I have to get myself together super quick to catch as much of the 2nd Annual NOLA Veggie Fest (which ends at 7 pm) before heading to my Salsa night tonight (FabuNOLA presents … FiestaNOLA ~ Sexy Salsa Sundays) … which I hope to see many of you tonight!!

Mike Griffin with NOSD will be back tonight teaching the free class (which starts at 7pm). There is no cover for the Salsa Social that is from 8 pm (until). Chef Holly of Holly’s Tamales is back tonight too. Her menu this weekend will be a Roasted Veggie Tamale with Cuban Black Bean Sofritos & Rice + Fried Banana … so YUMMY!!. For those of you new to FabuNOLA (and there are MANY of you that just got entered onto my list from before Jazz Fest), please see below or on my FabuNOLA Blog for details about Salsa.

I mentioned the NOLA Veggie Fest (going on right now)!! You will see this event along with lots of others I listed below too (like the Gulf Aid Benefit Concert going on now too). There’s so much going on right now and into next week. Gris Gris Lab has it’s 1st film screening (along with Cuban Food & after-party) for “Inventos Hip Hop Cubano” then, the 2nd Annual Metro Bicycle Coalition Bicycle Second Line, as well as, HBO’s Treme is presenting “One Night Only … Frank’s Place.” These are all some of the special highlights I’m listing in this issue (all listed below after the details for Salsa event). And please check out the upcoming June happenings below so you can mark your calendars early.

Also, you’ll see the listing for Alliance For Affordable Energy’s 25th Anniversary Campaign to raise $25,000.00 by the 25th of May. I’m on the Board for the Alliance and would appreciate you clicking on their site to see ALL of the phenomenal things they are doing for ALL of us. Please consider a donation (big or small) to help them get ever closer to their goal this week. I would greatly appreciate it.

I know I usually write a bit more to give you greater encouragement to focus on from within. However, you know this is always being shared by me every time I get a chance to connect with you in some way, shape or form. I’m always hoping for the best for you … because I believe in your greatness and unique offerings to our society as a whole. If you are new to FabuNOLA, please check out my Blog with past postings so you can read more about what I normally write in the form of inspiration towards our FabuNOLA and Global Community moving forward … positively & successfully.

The FabuNOLA Blog has a brand new look to it so please check it out (which I’m still tweaking a bit). Also go there to check out the “FabuNOLA It List” and “Eco-FabuNOLA”  that you can see posted regularly (also please direct new people here instead of contacting me personally because it is very challenging for me to get back to everyone individually nowadays … and ask them to sign-up for this eNewsletter too). My Blog lists Music, Dance, Wellness & Eco Happenings. More will be posted/updated as I can get to it.

If you are new to the FabuNOLA Family (which is ever growing), welcome to the FabuFamily!! You are amongst a FabuKrewe of Great Beings … all striving for greater happiness from within. We are all beautifully inter-connected in this way. You are always loved and supported here. You will always mean so much to Me!! I’m wishing you only and all of the best.

Okay, that’s it for now. Until the next time … I’ll see You on the Page or in Person! And tell them FabuNOLA sent YOU. As always … here’s hoping to see You … Out & About!!

Be & Live Well,

Cherylyn

(Thanks to Lolis Elie for sending me this info. “Frank’s Place” was my Mom’s Favorite Show)

HBO’s TREME presents
Open for One Night Only: “FRANK’S PLACE”

During the 1987-1988 television season, Tim Reid and Hugh Wilson brought CBS viewers as close to New Orleans as any television series had ever done. In the first episode Frank Parrish, a reluctant restaurateur, plans to sell Chez Louisiane, the family restaurant he inherited. But soon he finds himself elbow deep in food, family debt and eccentric characters. The show is not available for home viewing. But through special arrangements with the show’s creators, HBO’s “Treme” will present two episodes of this New Orleans classic, along with a panel discussion featuring Reid, Wilson, “Treme” writer Lolis Eric Elie and moderated by Gambit Weekly editor Kevin Allman.

Tickets are $20. Please click http://franksplace.eventbrite.com/ to purchase online.

In June, New Orleans Film Society & CAC present:

ART & COPY

Art & Copy poster

A powerful film about advertising and inspiration, Art & Copy introduces the cultural visionaries who revolutionized advertising during the industry’s golden age by creating slogans to live by and ads we all remember. Exploding forth from advertising’s “creative revolution” of the 1960s, these artists and writers all brought a surprisingly rebellious spirit to their work in a business more often associated with mediocrity or manipulation.

Directed by Doug Pray. USA. 2009. 89 min.

THURSDAY JUNE 3, 7:30PM
Contemporary Arts Center, 900 Camp St.

NOFS and CAC members $6, general admission $8
Tickets at cacno.org or at the door/CAC box office: 504.528.3800

For more details on these & many more screenings throughout the year, becoming a member of the NOFS and wonderful Film Festivals year-round, please go to New Orleans Film Fest.

FabuNOLA eNewsletter, Blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are operated and maintained purely by my efforts to spread as much more positive Spirit throughout our FabuCity (and Globally). Through the many years so many of you have received my FabuNOLA emails, funding has not been involved (only recently has there been minimal advertising while transitioning towards greater advancement in this direction).

As the outreach numbers continue to expand (which is so beautiful), I want to be able to grow with you and offer a better experience. The only way this will happen is by opening up to more funding sources (Investors & Sponsors are always welcome … as well as gifts of any size).

I’ll leave you with these Words of Encouragement:

“One of the fascinating things about human beings is this:  Believe for long enough that you are not as smart as others and this will actually lead to intellectual ineptitude.  But, confronted with the same doubts, if you choose to believe that your mind is merely dormant for now, lacking in exercise, once you begin to train it, there are no bounds to what you can achieve.”
